FAQ

Below is the answer to our most Frequently Asked Questions. If you have a question not listed below, feel free to Contact Us anytime, we would love to hear from you!
Q: How long do the batteries last in each Knuckle Light™?

Under normal use (an hour or so per day) high quality Alkaline batteries will typically last 20-25 hours before you start to see a fade in the lights. Keep in mind that cold temperatures could drain the batteries faster.
Q: Are Knuckle Lights water resistant? Can I wear them in the rain?
Yes! Although not technically waterproof, Knuckle Lights™ are weather resistant and will hold up to rain, snow, sleet and wind.
Q: Where exactly do you wear them on your hands?
Knuckle Lights™ are designed to be worn on your knuckles across the same area on your fingers that you would wear a ring. We see many people slide them all the way on to their hands, with the lights actually resting on the back of the hand--this is not the best position for the lights. If worn correctly, the lights will be pointed directly in front of you while running and walking.

Q: Are Knuckle Lights truly "hands free"? Can I carry a water bottle or my dog's leash?
Yes! Each unit straps comfortably to your hand with a soft silicone strap, which can be adjusted so that they lights simply slip on and off, but also stay snug on your hands. Your hands are totally free and you can hold or grasp anything else you may need: water bottles, leashes, pepper stray, etc.
Q: Can I use Knuckle Lights at the same time as a water bottle that straps on my hand?
Yes! Most handhelds are designed to strap over the back of your hand while you hold the bottle in your palm. Knuckle Lights™ can be slipped on to your fingers after the bottle. It might take a bit of adjusting, but you should be able to wear both at the same time.  See the picture to the left for an example.
Q: Do you need to wear both of the Knuckle Lights to work properly?
No! Although the lights come with two units and are designed to be worn with one unit on each hand, some people use just one at a time. Each light is 45 Lumens, comparable to many of the most popular headlamps, so you get plenty of light even with just one; however, with only one unit you do not get the steady even glow of light right in front of you as you would with both units.
Q: How bright are Knuckle Lights™?

EACH Knuckle Light™ is 45 Lumens, which is comparable to most mid-priced headlamps ($35-$45 range), so you get twice the amount of light in a comfortable, easy to wear option that is a better light for running and walking.
Q: Since your arms are moving while running, don't the beams of light bounce around on the ground?
No! Knuckle Lights™ were designed with WIDE flood beams, so they put out a broad light in all directions, giving off a bright, even light. Compare this to most flashlights and headlamps that emit a SPOT beam, where you actually see a dot of light bouncing around on the ground in front of you with every step. You don’t get that with Knuckle Lights; you get a smooth, even level of light that moves with the natural motion of your arms.
Q: I bought my Knuckle Lights from my local running shop and now have a problem with them. Should I return them to the store or contact Knuckle Lights directly to solve the problem?
You can do either, but it might save you time and be easier to Contact Us directly first. If it is a problem with the lights we will get the issue resolved immediately and save you a trip back to the store.
Q: How much do Knuckle LIghts weigh?
Each unit weighs less than 3 ounces including the batteries.
Q: How fast will I get my order with the FREE shipping option?
For orders in the U.S. we ship by USPS Priority Mail, which has a 2-3 business day delivery time. This is not a guaranteed service and may on occassion take a day or two longer (though over 90% of our shipments arrive in the 2-3 day time frame). If you need a guaranteed delivery time, we also offer FedEx services at an additional cost.

For shipments to CANADA our free shipping option is USPS First Class International, which does not have tracking capability once the packaged is turned over to Canada Post. Delivery times may take up to 20-25 days. Unfortunately this is the only "affordable" service--Priority and FedEx rates to Canada are approximately $25-$30 for shipping, which doesn't make sense for a $40 product.

Q: Are Knuckle Lights Guaranteed? What if I don't like them?

Yes! Knuckle Lights™ are guaranteed for 5 years against any defects in materials or manufacture.

We also offer a 90-day money back guarantee: if you are unsatisfied with the product for any reason, simply return it to us within 90 days for a full refund.

QWhy are Knuckle Lights better than headlamps or other options for running and walking?
Knuckle Lights™ are the best possible option for lighting your next run or walk in the dark.

The lights are closer to the ground than other options, providing a greater amount of light right where you need it. Also, with the lights on your hands you can easily point the light in any direction quickly, for example to flash at an oncoming car.

Knuckle Lights™ also promotes good running form--having the lights on your knuckles keeps your arms up in the proper running position, and you will notice if you are over-pumping your arms.

We believe Knuckle Lights™ are a cool looking product that is fun and easy to wear--a nice alternative to the coal miner look of a headlamp.

With two units at 45 Lumens each, it is a better value than other comparable lights--you get twice the amount of light for about the same price.

Since Knuckle Lights™ are on your hands, you do not get any "Steam Blindness" that occurs with headlamps in cold weather, which is caused because your eyes are between your mouth and the headlamp, so when you exhale your breath clouds your vision momentarily. This happens in the snow as well, where it feels like you are jumping into hyper space in Star Wars. Neither of these things occur with Knuckle Lights!
